Historic Property
#23020 (Milltown, AL)
This property dates to the late 1700’s but its history goes even further back with habitation by Native Americans in this Chikasanoxee Creek valley now known as Milltown, Alabama. The area is only a few minutes away from Horseshoe Bend National Military Park where Andrew Jackson battled the Creek Indians (Red Sticks) on March 27, 1814. At that time, the area was still the wild Mississippi Territory – not yet the new State of Alabama until 1819. The restoration effort now underway will include an 1870’s residence as well as a 1940’s general store. Another section of the property will support the new woodworking business of www.milltownmillworks.com
