As with every custom private residence (as well as any commercial job) the initial design challenge considers the aspects of the site context that will affect function, flow and constructibility of the project components.  In this case, the site is deep and narrow . . . interestingly neighboring between the downtown district and a historic 1940’s era home owned by our client’s sister.  The plan layout meets the needs of empty nesters but allows for an upper level to be built out later by future owners.  The Folk Victorian Farmhouse aesthetic is appropriate for this small town and fits the relaxed lifestyle of its owners.
