Excerpts from recollections of Mr. Roy Roberts:
“My grandfather moved back to Alpharetta from Marion County Georgia around 1929. Some time in the early thirties the Government started a project to extend what is now Hwy 9 which had terminated at Cumming St or at least turned there. In that time period (1930’s) my grandfather went monthly to Duluth, GA to meet with a doctor from Lawrenceville, one from Cumming and one from Duluth. They would discuss patient issues and medicines that had worked or failed. On one of these trips my grandmother attended and saw a house she liked in Duluth. My grandfather was able to get the builder’s name and the builder agreed to come to Alpharetta and duplicate the house from Duluth. That duplicate is the charming Tudor Revival at 116 North Main Street.”
