This private single family residence concept is derived from local sources. Historically, this imagery was a typical small farmer’s attempt to integrate the “big plantation” tendency to utilize the Greek Revival architectural style, but in a much smaller, and less expensive, “box”. For this client, the front porch was the only identifying “picturesque” element. Otherwise, he built it himself and made numerous decisions along the way to suit his personal needs. But that front porch or colonnade, or portico extends the full width and it fully covered by the main roof…a configuration known as an “undercut gallery”.
