Tracy Ward loves a project with a story to tell because the practice of Architecture is much more than simply creating an attractive box that keeps out the weather.  Within the architectural design process…to incorporate the lessons of history into new structures is to teach and share the past with the next generation.  Every project will provide its own unique, vernacular and indigenous story(s) to convey to its spectators and occupants.  And those legends, tales or anecdotes can be integrated into the architectural concepts thereby adding meaning and substance both today and for tomorrow.  Influential architects who successfully blended historical precedent with modern technology of their time include Sir Edwin Lutyens, Sir John Soane, Philadelphia’s Frank Furness, the self-taught Founding Father Thomas Jefferson, and Mississippi’s English-born William Nichols.

Mr. Ward earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1987 at the School of Architecture of Mississippi State University, where he won the school’s most prestigious student competition sponsored by Pella Windows in 1986.  His intense training included time in London, England at the Bartlett School of Architecture in 1985, where he and his wife, Kimberly, co-designed a housing project on the Thames River.  In 1993-94, he co-founded a partnership which thrived for 18 years.  A sole proprietor since 2011, Mr. Ward approaches each project with not only an artistic focus in his designs, but also an effort to build strong relationships with those involved in the project that includes integrity and honesty.  His personal care and attention has achieved the trust and repeat business from clients, investors, builders, developers and consultants for 30 years.  Mr. Ward holds architectural license in Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia, dividing time with offices in metro areas of Atlanta, Georgia and Jackson, Mississippi.

Tracy Ward has been married to Kimberly since 1985. They have four children, Natalee, Dakota, Alexa, and Noah. The family attends and serves at First Baptist Church.  He is acting Chairman of the forthcoming Mississippi Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, and has been instrumental in the recent partnership between (school of architecture at) MSU and the ICAA for an ongoing workshop in classical architecture for both students and practicing professionals. Mr. Ward continues work on a photographic book series called “Historic Courthouse Architecture”. The first volume on Mississippi courthouses received a 2014 Heritage Award for “Preservation Education” from the Mississippi Heritage Trust, and the Alabama book was completed in 2015.
